Introduction

As students select their options subject preferences using the unique link emailed to them, you will see theme appear in the Student preferences screen in Options. They will be able to select and update their preferences right up to the deadline set.

This guide outlines how to review and allocate preferences to students so you can help students achieve their top preferences before creating options classes.

Review and allocate options to students

Once the deadline has passed, you can allocate options to students.

From the Student preferences screen, select Allocate options:

  • A warning will pop-up and let you know if there are any students who had not completed their preferences. Select Allocate options to continue.

Each student is given a percentage score indicating whether they’ve been allocated mainly first (75%-100%), second (50%-74%) or third (0%-49%) preferences.

You can try to improve lower scores by adjusting the student’s preferences. You can also select more than one student and make adjustments in bulk.

Select Allocate preferences to apply any changes.

Note: The system aims to get as many students into their first preference within the block’s capacity. Student allocations are displayed with a colour-coded RAG status and percentage score. Use the RAG filters to quickly identify students who may require allocation adjustments.
