Set up school structure in a draft timetable

Introduction

When a draft timetable is created, the school structure defines the term start and end dates, non-teaching days and what a school day looks like with registration (home room) times, lunch and breaks.


This guide outlines how to set up school structure for a draft timetable.

Before you start

When you create a new timetable draft you will land in My school year to set up school structure. 

If you open an existing draft timetable, go to My school year to set up school structure.

Set the term dates for the timetable draft

To add the start and end dates for each term, select Add term

  1. Give the term a name. For example; Term 2, Summer term, etc. 
  2. Use the date pickers to select the start and end dates for the term.
  3. Select the check-box to include half-term breaks if required.
  4. Select Add term.

You have added a term. Repeat the steps to add more terms to the timetable draft.

Set any non-teaching days for the timetable draft

To add dates when the school is closed to students (for example, bank/public holidays or inset/curriculum days), select Add non-teaching day/s (at least 1 or more terms are required to be set up before you can add non-teaching days):

  1. Give the non-teaching day/s a name. For example; Summer curriculum day, Labour Day holiday, etc. 
  2. Use the dropdown to select the type of non-teaching day; Inset (curriculum) day, Bank (Public holiday) or Other.
  3. Use the date pickers to select the start and end dates for the non-teaching day/s.
  4. Select Add non-teaching day/s.

You have added non-teaching days to the timetable draft.
